The Marin Redevelopment Area Redevelopment Plan was originally adopted in 1975 with the northern portion of the Marin Redevelopment Area between Eighth and Ninth Streets being re-adopted as the Block 10102 Redevelopment Plan in 2014. Conveniently located in the northernmost block of this Redevelopment Plan and directly across from Newport Mall is 485 Marin Boulevard which is currently being referred to as the Marin Residences. Design Architect, HWKN, refers to the building’s unique center cut as ‘the Canyon’. As Executive Architect, Marchetto Higgins Stieve encourages designs that maintain views towards the waterfront.
Marin Residence’s distinctive design marks the entrance into the Hamilton Park Neighborhood. This 548,722 square feet of mixed use development provides 397 residential units and 257 parking spaces. The base of the vertically tiered valley plateaus at the 5th floor, features a luxurious amenity deck for its future renters. Swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and a lounging area overlook the developer’s donated park to the public currently being designed by Landscape Architects, Melillo & Bauer.
HWKN designed unique undulating looking canopies positioned above the retail and the building’s entrance which draw one’s eyes up and along the retail spaces. Located within walking distance to the Light Rail and Path trains, MHS Architects alongside HWKN and KRE Development, have taken pride being a part of another true transit-oriented development. Marin Residences is scheduled to be completed by June 2018.
